  • Ensuring a continuously improving teaching learning process to meet the current trends in the industry.
  • Promoting innovative and original thinking of budding engineers to face the challenges of the future.
  • Involving development of society through inculcating leadership qualities and entrepreneurial skills among students.
  • Producing Civil Engineers of high caliber, technical skills and ethical values to serve the society and nation.

Overview about the Department:

Civil Engineering is considered to be the most versatile branch among all the engineering branches. The Department of Civil Engineering committed to serve the society and technical field with emphasis on knowledge, applied research, innovation and professional skills. The Department of civil engineering started functioning in this college under the Directorate of Technical Education in 2019. The department offers a full time Diploma course in civil engineering with an intake of 60 students. The department is progressive in establishing associations with industry and technical organizations for the betterment of students. It is the branch with a lot of diversity from Environmental to Hydraulics, Transportation to Hydrology etc.

The department is proud to have a team of qualified teaching faculties with industrial experience, imparting quality teaching in different fields of Civil Engineering and is very active in conducting technical activities and research development. The department has modern laboratories, well equipped with state-of-the-art equipments and machines with a strong backbone of well-experienced demonstrators, for catering quality education to the students.

The Department offers training in the application of the modern surveying equipment, Total station, for all students in civil engineering. The Department has Smart Class facilities for lectures, project and seminar presentations. Students are trained to get sanction the building permit drawing, thus they will be able to register as a Licensed Engineer with sufficient experience in the field after the completion of the course. The Department also offers advanced training in a number of Civil engineering software like MS Office, AutoCAD, STAAD Pro., Revit, ETABS, Primavera P6 and GEO5 handled by experts in the concerned field. Students will be able to develop their leadership qualities and extracurricular activity skills through the various programmes offered by the Department like Tech Fest, Seminars, Career Guidance, Cultural Fest, Sports Day etc. A Grievance and an Anti Ragging - Anti Drugs Cell are also functioning very well in the Civil engineering Department.

CIVIL ENGINEERING PROGRAM OUTCOMES (POs)

At the time of graduation, students from our Civil Engineering program are expected to have:

  • PO1: Problem Solving: an ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics;
  • PO2: Design: an ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors;
  • PO3: Communication: an ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences;
  • PO4: Professional and Ethical Responsibility: an ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts;
  • PO5: Teamwork: an ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives;
  • PO6: Experimentation: an ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions;
  • PO7: Learning: an ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.

CIVIL ENGINEERING PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs)

The educational objectives of the Diploma Program of Civil Engineering, in keeping with Holy Grace Polytechnic College's Mission, are:

  • PEO1: To impart science-based engineering education to develop professional skills that will prepare the students for immediate employment in relevant branch of engineering in industry as against the model that just prepares them for under-graduate and post-graduate education.
  • PEO2: To develop human potential to its fullest extent so that intellectually capable and imaginatively gifted leaders can emerge in range of professions.
  • PEO3: To develop among students the awareness of and the competence to be savvy users of information technology.
  • PEO4: To develop among students the ability to work with others, in professional and social settings.
  • PEO5: To develop a global view among students so that they can appreciate diversity in the world and in intellectual pursuits and the desire and ability to keep learning throughout life.
