We strive to develop our students to become innovators and thought leaders by imparting a rigorous training programme in academic, co-curricular, personality development, the latest pedagogical and technical skills.
The General Department is an integral part of the system of polytechnic education .The department welcomes students to the first year and prepares them to the core programmes building confidence in them by creating a strong rapport with them. It is blessed with well experienced and efficient staff who are dedicated in their work and committed to impart knowledge in basic sciences and communication skills in English.
The department has good infrastructure facilities with well furnished staffroom, classroom and well qualified laboratories for physics and chemistry. There is an IT lab and separate lab for English.
A unit of National Service Scheme (NSS) is functioning under the leadership of a programme officer from the first year linking students to the community giving opportunity for them to interact with the public outside the campus and to work with them to solve some of the issues they face. The department conducts seminars, workshops, awareness classes and other skill based training including soft skills on a regular basis.
